Members of the Morigaon district unit of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) staged a protest today by burning a copy of a job advertisement issued by the Gauhati High Court, alleging it showed disregard for the Bodo language.
The demonstration was held in front of the ABSU district office in Morigaon. Protesters raised slogans like “Disregard for Bodo language will not be tolerated,” “Our demand is justified,” “Accept our demand,” and shouted slogans against the Chief Minister and Education Minister, accusing them of failing to uphold linguistic inclusivity in government processes.
The protesters expressed strong opposition to the absence of the Bodo language in the court’s recruitment notice and warned that continued neglect of their language in official matters would lead to intensified agitation.
Speaking to the media, Morigaon district ABSU president Joy Chandra Boro said, “This is a clear insult to our language. We demand immediate rectification and inclusion of the Bodo language in all government recruitment processes, including those issued by the judiciary.”
