The Assam Government Employees’ Association spearheaded a work strike in Salbari, pressing for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). The demonstration took place at the Salbari Sub-Divisional Office and Shalbari College, witnessing widespread participation from government employees.
Raising slogans such as "One Nation, One Policy – Our Demand: Old Pension Scheme," the protesters voiced their dissatisfaction with the existing pension structure. The demonstrators questioned the disparity, stating, "If ministers and legislators continue to receive OPS benefits, why should government employees be excluded?"
The Assam Government Employees’ Association warned that the agitation will persist until the Old Pension Scheme is reinstated, signaling further statewide protests if their demands are not met.
