Assam's Ultapani forest range, in coordination with Kokrajhar police, on November 27 launched an operation against deforestation in Sikhnajhar National Park.

131 individuals from Chirang, Bongaigaon, Sonitpur, Udalguri and Guwahati were detained during the operation.

The illegal encroachment is causing environmental damage at ride numbers 6, 7, and 8 in Sikhnajhar National Park.

Sources reveal that over 500 people from various districts of Assam have been involved in illegal deforestation in the park over the past week, causing significant environmental damage.
