Itanagar, June 6, 2019:

Hours after an Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 aircraft carrying 13 persons onboard went missing in Arunachal, a search and rescue team spotted wreckage of the AN-32 flight.

The transport aircraft lost contact at around 1 am following take off from Jorhat in Assam. It was carrying eight crew members and five armed forces personnel. Mechuka area in Arunachal Pradesh, which is a very densely forested area, was the destination for the plane.

Official sources have not confirmed the names of the persons who were on-board that ill-fated aircraft. Although the list is with Inside Northeast, we are waiting for official confirmation.

As per sources , the names of the persons who were on board the aircraft are: Flight Lieutenant M Garg, Wing Commander Charles, Flight Lieutenant Mohanty, Flight Lieutenant Tanwar, Squadron Leader Vinod, Flight Lieutenant Thapa, Sergeant Anoop, Corporal Sharin, Warrant Officer KK Mishra, Leading Aircraft Man Pankaj, Leading Aircraft Man SK Singh, Non Combatant (Enrolled) Rajesh Kumar, and a Non Combatant (Enrolled) Putali.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter to share that he is keeping track of the situation. He says he has spoken to Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force to take stock of the missing aircraft and has been apprised of the steps taken to track it.
