Arunachal Pradesh has raised the curtains of the second edition of the “Papum Poma River Festival” held beside the Papum river in Papum Pare district.
Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju joined the celebrations of the three-day tourism festival and was seen enjoying a drag of the “herbal smoke”. Rijiju, who is popularly known for his adventurous attitude, arrived at the Papum Poma River Festival to promote and support the adventure sports and cultural fest in his home state.

Sharing a video of the fest on his Twitter feed, Rijiju captioned, “Those who miss the Papum Poma River Festival in Arunachal Pradesh are very unlucky but I'm fortunate to attend. Tourism is future. Please visit to feel the AMAZING AMALGAMATION of NOISELESS NATURE, ALLURING ADVENTURE & COLORFUL CULTURE! The pipe smoke is not tobacco but herbal”.
The festival has arranged an array of adventure sports to keep the tourists and locals engaged, water rafting, angling, kayaking, zip-lining, rappelling, hot air balloon, hiking, camping, traditional sports and beach volleyball being a few. Cultural nights with performances of local Artistes and local dishes are the highlights of the event.

It may be mentioned here that the Papum Poma River fest is aimed at preserving, conserving, promoting and showcasing the eco-potentials of the area for sustainable source of income generation.
