A Congress member from Arunachal Pradesh, Marina Kenlang has alleged Arunachal Pradesh Congress President, Takam Sanjoy of taking bribes from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said she could not file her nomination as the Arunachal Pradesh Congress President did not give her the necessary forms required to file nominations for the Assembly elections in the state.
Speaking exclusively to InsideNE, Marina Khenglang said, “My name was in the list from the CEC meeting held in Delhi. Actually, there were two contenders from the same constituency: a male candidate and the other was me. In the Pradesh Election Commission (PEC) meeting, most people supported me. In spite of that, Takam Sanjoy issued INC ticket for the male candidate. Suddenly, the files were called back to Delhi again as the Intelligence Bureau report of the male candidate was going bad. They held a meeting and my name was shortlisted again, although they did not ask me whether I’m going to contest or not. So I thought I will contest for the elections and when I was getting ready for my nomination, he (Sanjoy) did not give me the Form A and B; when my supporters went to take the form Sanjoy Takam, he refused and said that was not possible.”
Marina further blasted the Congress leadership at the local level in Arunachal Pradesh. “Takam Sanjoy has been doing this in other places as well, so I guess he must be taking money from the BJP party. I don’t think Takam Sanjoy is fighting in favor of Congress”, she said.
“Congress has been encouraging women reservations, and thus this is not the fault of the Congress, but rather, the fault of the workers”, she said.
Marina has also alleged that since there are a lot of candidates for the limited number of seats, the Congress leadership in the state must be taking bribes from them.
