Guwahati, March 27, 2019:

As per reports, authorities in India’s neighboring country China have destroyed nearly 30,000 ‘wrong maps’ depicting Arunachal Pradesh as a part of Indian territory. Moreover, the maps also showed Taiwan as a separate country.

As per Chinese news website Dazhongwang Qingdao, it is the largest seizure of “problematic” maps in recent years and was conducted to protect China’s “territorial integrity.”

The maps, which were in English, were manufactured by Chinese province Anhui and were meant for export. Acting on a tip-off, customs officials in China’s Qingdao city raided an office and seized boxes containing 28,908 such maps. The documents were taken to a secret location where they were destroyed.

It may be mentioned that China considers Arunachal Pradesh a part of Chinese territory and on official maps depicts it as a part of Tibet Autonomous Council.
