GUWAHATI: A total of 39,07,963 female voters will catalyze the fate of 337 candidates in the third phase of the Assam election 2021, which is underway from today 7 am onwards in 16 districts of Assam.

In the third phase, there is a total of 79,19,641 voters, who are going to cast vote in 11,401 polling stations, out of which 316 are all women running polling stations.

In the last phase of Assam Election 2021, there are total of 25 female candidates against 312 male candidates.

Prominent female faces like Bodoland People Front's Pramila Rani Brahma from East Kokrajhar, and Congress' two candidates Mira Borthakur from West Gauhati and first chief minister of Assam, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi's granddaughter Ashima Bardoloi from East Gauhati are in the frayed this phase.

Among the 40 constituencies in the third phase, Dispur has the highest number of voters – 4,11,636 – and Dharmapur has the lowest of 1,41,592.

Gauhati (West) constituency will witness a contest among the maximum number of candidates – 15, while the minimum number of candidates is in Boko, where there are only three.

To ensure free and fair polling, a total of 320 companies of security forces have been deployed in the 16 districts going to the polls.
