All Assam Students' Union General Secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Saturday, continuing to rage against the ruling regime in Himanta Biswa Sarma's home constutuency of Sualkuchi, stated that AASU is ready for a debate with Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
Launching a scathing attack on Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Lurinjyoti stated, "Himanta Biswa Sarma has challenged our Chief Adviser for an open debate on the NRC. We are reiterating -- we are ready to debate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for an open debate -- the PM and Home Minister can also include the local leaders of Assam."

Issuing a warning to the ruling BJP regime, the AASU leader stated: "As long as the CAA is not scrapped, the souls of the Assamese people shall not be at peace. They should understand that."
Accusing the ruling BJP party of waging a war against the dissenters via the medium of social media, Lurin further stated that the ruling party is dividing the people along the line of Hindu-Muslim. "But the people of Assam will never accept this at any cost", Lurin said.
He further called upon the people to 'block' and 'unfriend' the Facebook pages run by the supporters the ruling party's leaders.
It may be mentioned that earlier, AASU Chief Adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya, responding to Biswa Sarma's debate of a challenge, said, “We had raised our issues, but the Central Government failed to give us appropriate answers. Now, we would like to invite the honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a public debate, where honourable Home Minister can also be present — and other leaders from Assam can also be present.”
