Sitting Tezpur MP R P Sarmah has reiterated time and again that he has always been opposed to the AGP-BJP alliance since the earliest times. Speaking to InsideNE, he explained why he feels that way about the regional party as he alleged that the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) was formed on the dead bodies of the 855 young martyrs of Assam Agitation. “With that blood, they formed the AGP in 1985”, he added.
Speaking exclusively to InsideNE, R P Sharma said, “In the agitation, thousands became physically disabled in the lathi charge and thousands were imprisoned for a long time. So I said no to an alliance with the party that came over the dead bodies of the 855 young boys and girls but divided into three parts within 15 years: new AGP in 1991, then Progressive AGP and than Trinamool AGP. I questioned on their ideology.”
It may be mentioned that R P Sharma, one of the oldest members of the BJP party in Assam, has been vocal over the alliance and the intake of new members into the BJP party.
