President and Secretary of AJYCP Margherita Regional Committee, Rahul Malakar and Bimal Singh said, “On Monday evening, a youth identified as Anil Hajong, who was traveling in a scooty was crushed to death by a Dumper at Baragolai moving in high speed. The AJYCP Margherita Regional Committee today seized four vehicles that were plying illegally at NH 38 without any documents. The four seized Dumpers bearing registration number AS 23 AC 1808, AS 23 BC 7355, AS 23 AC 6817 and AS 23 BC 6872 were handed over to Ledo Police outpost.”
Bimal Singh further alleged, “At Jagun Forest Range office under Digboi Forest Division such as at Lama Ghat, Wara and Dehing River, people such as Rakesh Jaiswal, Prem Lama, Ashok Sharma, and Shiva Gogoi have been regularly illegally extracting stone and gravel, but then also Divisional Forest Officer of Digboi Forest Division, Margherita Administration (Civil) and Margherita Police have not taken any action against these Mafias. This indicates an unholy nexus between the concerned department and the Mafias.”

The AJYCP has demanded that the vehicles plying illegally along the NH-38 must be seized immediately and illegal stone, sand and gravel extraction should be stopped at Margherita Sub Division. Moreover, the deceased Anil Hajong's family members should be compensated.
