Guwahati, January 18, 2019:

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has announced for a series of state wide protest activities against the proposed controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 from January 21 to December 31 with the aim of “Jogaon Assam, Bosau Assam”.

On January 21, all the District Congress and Blog Congress Committee office in the state will initiate the programme with light earthen lamps and all-religion prayer in the evening.

On January 23, on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, all the District Congress and Blog Congress Committee have planned organized “Shankalpa Diwas”.

On January 24, all the District Congress and Blog Congress Committee will stage 5 hours hunger strike in front of the Deputy Commissioner office and pass a memorandum through the higher authorities to appeal the President of India to scrap the Bill.

On January 30, on the occasion of Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a “Human Chain Programme” will be initiated in all the District Congress and Blog Congress Committee office as a part of awareness to general public on how RSS policy will be implemented after the amendment of Citizenship Bill to destroy the Axomiya Jaati just like the murder of Mahatma Gandhi by Nathuram Godse.

On January 31, all the Mandal Congress Committee will carry out a two hour Torch Light rally is their respective regions against the Bill.
