Army’s Rangiya-based Red Horns Division, under the aegis of Gajraj Corps, flagged off a national integration tour for 20 girl students hailing from remote parts of Dhubri and Kokrjhar districts in Guwahati on Sunday.
According to defence sources, the participants, belonging to varied ethnic background, will visit places of historic, military, academic, professional, cultural and recreational interests in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore during the 18-day tour.
The sources said the main objectives of the tour include introducing the participants to the rich heritage and culture of the country, increasing awareness on educational and professional avenues and building bridges between communities.
Mrs Amanpreet Kaur Sangha, the president of Army Wives’ Welfare Association who had flagged off the tour, interacted with the participants and encouraged them to utilise the experiences gained so that they could enhance their knowledge and horizons. On their part, the girls shared their personal objectives and goals.
