The Asom Nagarik Samaj staged a sit-in protest on Sunday demanding the release of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief Akhil Gogoi, pro-talks UNITED LIBERATION FONT OF ASOM (ULFA), leader Jiten Dutta, among others.
The Asom Nagarik Samaj -- comprising noted intellectual Hiren Gohain, veteran journalist cum author Homen Gohain, writer Anima Guha, Harekrishna Deka, veteran singer Pulak Banerjee, singer Sudakshina Sharma and other renowned personalities of the state -- urged the Government to release the anti-CAA avtivists. They demanded immediate release of Akhil Gogoi, Jiten Dutta, and others involved in the protests.

It is to be mentioned here that KMSS chief Akhil Gogoi was arrested by the NIA under new UAPA for alleged involvement with maoists in CAA protest. He has been sent to 10-days custody. Meanwhile, the clamour for Gogoi's release is growing louder by the day, with student bodies and indigenous organizations demanding that Gogoi be released.
Meanwhile, pro-talks ULFA(I) leader Jiten Dutta was arrested by police in relation to vandalism of the RSS office in Margherita of Tinsukia district amid the CAA protests.
