Guwahati, July 15, 2019:

The flood situation in Assam is worsening as the incessant rain continues to lash various parts of the state.

As per the latest updates, 70 per cent of the Kaziranga National Park and its 95 camps have submerged underwater, with the animals also feeling the pain of floods. Following the worsening situations, the leaves of the forest officers have been cancelled and are asked to remain on duty.

The animals of the Kaziranga National Park have now moved to the nearby highlands as the low lying areas have been submerged by the flood. This, in turn, has led to many treats like accidents as the National Highway 37 passes through the park. The animals are at the most vulnerable state as the poachers remain highly alert during this time.

Time cards are being provided to vehicles coming from both sides of the Kaziranga National Park to provide security to animals from accidents and being hunted. Forest guards have also been put on duty at night.
