Thousands upon thousands of agitators took to the streets of Guwahati, the largest city in Assam, to raise their collective voices against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
Many indigenous leaders as well as noted intellectuals, who have been outspoken against the Bill took part in this latest chapter in the stir against the dreaded CAB. The sea of protesters could be likened to an agitating crowd during the 'Assam Agitation', that began to drive out 'foreigners' from the soil of Assam.

Raising cries denouncing the BJP Government and the Assam BJP unit and their allies, the protest snaked through the streets of Guwahati city -- from the Dighalipukhri area to the Zoo Road area -- a good distance of around 6-7 kms.

Meanwhile, pro-talks ULFA leader Anup Chetia, who took part in the protest, told Inside Northeast that the agitating bodies will approach the Supreme Court, if the Bill passes the test at the Parliament. "The leaders can only rule over the people, if there is a jati. If the jati is wiped out, the politicians will not have anyone to rule over...", Chetia further cautioned.
It may be mentioned that the stir against the CAB has gained further momentum in Assam after the Centre announced that the areas under the ILP regime and the tribal areas safeguarded under the 6th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
