Some rather disturbing reports have emerged from the National Register of Citizens (NRC) Centre at Nukhuti Forest Department in Assam's Hojai district ahead of the publication of the final NRC draft.
People visiting the centre have alleged that the NRC proceedings there have witnessed enormous anomalies. Due to this, the situation has turned very tense in the Centre.
It has been reported that the NRC Centre possesses only two biometric devices against the data recording of over 4,000 people. The deadline for the recording of the biometric data of these 4,000 people has been set by July 10.

Moreover, it has been alleged that one out of the two devices is defunct. They further added that the power supply into the centre is also not regular and the generator used in the centre is also not working.
Meanwhile, there are also allegations that the biometric operators are not available at the site of data recording.
The people have expressed deep concern as the aged people and the people coming from distant places have been facing harassment as the proceedings are not possible in one day due to such incompetent appliances.
It is to be mentioned that the NRC final draft will be updated on July 31.
