Assam: Anti-CAA Leaders 'Trolled' by CAA Supporters, Childrens' Names Dragged

Guwahati, December 25, 2019:

Suspected supporters of the Citizenship Amendment Act have lashed out at some of the eminent personalities of Assam, and 'trolled' them for educating their children outside the state, while, at the same time, calling forth students of Universities in Assam to take to streets in protest.

In a picture that is being widely shared on social media, the following information is being relayed:

Let us familiarize us with a few intellectuals who, despite educating their own children in national-international institutions, are inciting the youths of Assam to take to the streets in protest:

-- Mayur Bora's son studies at the SRM College of Engineering in Chennai

-- Prasanta Rajguru's child studies at Hindu College in Chennai 

-- Mrinal Talukdar's daughter is currently studying at the Amity University in New Delhi

-- Nabanil Baruah's son is studying at the Whistling International Institute.

This trolling of some of the anti-CAA leaders on Whatsapp and involving their families has sent ripples across the State, as it could paint a target on the backs the protesters' children.

Rajguru, who is the editor of Amar Asom, responded to the trolls with the following words: "Yes ,my daughter Sreejayaa Rajguru is a student of Hindu college Delhi. Happy to inform all my friends in social media that she has been actively participating in all the anti CAA movement in delhi and in one of the occasions she was badly attacked by ABVP people in DU campus. Right now she is in Guwahati. Here also she is active against CAA, participating the movement in almost every occasion including the dharna of Sunday last."

This attack of the intellectuals protesting against the CAA, by dragging their children, is widely being viewed as a way to silent dissent against the Bill-turned-Act.
