Amidst rising onion price in the state of Assam, protestors of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) adorned the image of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal with a garland made of onions.
Distressed protestors vented out their dissatisfaction over the rising price of vegetables in the state. Taking it to the streets of Dibrugarh, KMSS members hung a portrait of CM Sonowal with a garland of onions.

It is to be mentioned that CM Sonowal hails from Dibrugarh district of Assam and protestors were seen expressing their disappointment.
Petrol and diesel prices have also gone up in Assam. Demanding reduction in the oil rates, the protestors in Dibrugarh pushed their bikes to petrol pumps.
The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti launched a state-wide protest in Guwahati against the rising prices, demanding reduction.

General Secretary of KMSS, Dhaijya Konwar also lashed out on the Assam Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister, Phani Bhusan Choudhury and called him ‘useless’.
He alleged, “Choudhury has failed to meet the demands of the people and his department lacks the desired action. CM Sonowal has also kept quiet over such issues.”
He detailed out the prices of vegetables in Assam - Onions have reached to Rs. 65-Rs. 70 per kg, Tomatoes are worth Rs. 100 per kg, Potato- Rs. 30 per kg, Garlic- Rs. 180, Chilies - Rs 220 and kerosene is at Rs. 40 – 60.
