Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on the occasion of seventh death anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika inaugurated the three-storey museum named Xunuwali Xuworoni (golden memories) at the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Khetra in Jalukbari on Monday.
The museum is built for housing personal items and photographs of the singer. Hazarika’s clothes, shoes and caps will also be displayed at the museum.
Reportedly, a sum of Rs 14 crore for the construction of the museum and Rs 377.6 lakh for interior design has been provided by the Sate Government.
Sonowal mentioned that the government has decided to preserve Hazarika’s house at Kolkata and Kaziranga and will also build a Samannay Kshetra near the Dhola-Sadiya bridge to preserve the cultural manifestation of the Northeast.
The minister also urged the youth to carry the subject into the social media platforms to popularize his contribution among the upcoming generations.
