GUWAHATI: Congress Legislature Party leader Debabrata Saikia has slammed Bharatiya Janata Party's Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Minister of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, for his controversial remark on the price hike issue in the state.
Debabrata Saikia alleged that state minister Dass has justified the price hike of food items as "adulteration-free."
Saikia took a potshot at Dass and said, "What sort of statement is that? If it's true then the current Government should start departmental proceeding against the responsible officers and ministers of the previous Assam government and other departments for forcing the people of Assam to consume poison and suspend them."

"Consuming adulterated products is equivalent to consuming poison. Why did the government officials let us consume poison?", he added.
Nazira MLA Saikia has also raised questions over the reshuffle of government IAS, IPS officers, and other bureaucrats recently without any "valid reason."
"Usually one official has to serve a minimum of three years at a place unless there is any complaint against them. Then on what ground these officials have been transferred? The government should make it transparent. I oppose this decision," Saikia opined.
