The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two Indian Forest Service (IFS) officials Diganta Gogoi and Tarun Johri, one IFS Officer hailing from Assam, in relation to a case of bribing an official of the Environment Ministry.
The two officials are: Assam’s Diganta Gogoi posted in Arunachal Pradesh and Tarun Johri, posted in Port Blair, in the posts of chief conservators of forest.
The duo was arrested by the CBI for bribing a sum of Rs. 20,000 to an official of the Environment Ministry. The CBI has raided the residence of IFS Diganta Gogoi in Guwahati and seized several documents related to the case. According to reports, the bureaucrat filed a complaint with the CBI and had alleged that he was being asked to forge Gogoi’s service record. According to the CBI, Johri had contacted the environment ministry officer and asked him to get the approval of the ministry of environment and forests for making changes in the date in Gogoi’s service record as a chief conservator.
Johri has been arrested from New Delhi while Gogoi has been arrested from Port Blair.
