DHUBRI: The Dhubri forest department in its drive against illegal tree felling and timber trade seized a band saw mill along with a generator in Dhubri district of Assam today.
The Dhubri Forest Check Station raided a village at Hazraterhat under Tamarhat Police station Dhubri and was able to seize the band saw mill along with a generator.
Deepak Chandra Deka, DFO, Dhubri received information regarding a band saw mill which was operating illegally by some miscreants.

Later, based on a secret information, Dhubri Forest Check Station Forester l, Sahabaz Sultan, and Ziaul Islam Forester I, along with a team of Dhubri forest staff, protection squad, and beat officer, Gauripur jointly conducted an operation in the remote area of Hazraterhat under Tamarhat Police station and were able to seize one band saw mill and a generator.
However, the mill operators managed to flee from the spot during the investigation whereas there were no valuable teaks or logs.
Later, a case has been registered against the band saw mill and further inquiry is underway, said DFO, Deepak Chandra Deka, Dhubr.
