Assam | Kamrup (M) DC issues special guidelines ahead of counting

Guwahati, May 20, 2019:

Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metropolitan), Biswajit Pegu on Monday announced certain rules and regulations set for the media ahead of the counting of votes on 23 May. As per the new rules, no media person will be allowed to enter the counting stations. The media will be allowed to cast visuals only from the cameras set by the Election Commission. Moreover, the media will not be allowed to show the number of votes gained by a candidate in advance during the entire process of counting.

A three-layered security facility will be allotted in the station of counting. No mobile will be allowed inside the counting station. The four Assembly constituencies of Guwahati will be allotted with 56 tables for the counting process. As per the directions of the Supreme Court, the counting of 5 VVPAT will be done for one constituency. However, the counting of VVPAT will be done only after the counting of EVMs for which the timing for the counting as schedule earlier may be delayed.

Meanwhile, DC also mentioned that for the counting of votes in Kamrup (M), 200 officials of the district administration have been appointed. Also, no member from any political parties will be allowed to enter into the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre where the counting will be executed
