NEW DELHI: The resignation of Biswajit Daimary, former Bodoland People's Front (BPF) politician who recently joined the BJP, has been formally accepted by M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

Daimary's resignation from the Rajya Sabha days after the BPF firebrand announced his decision to quit the party and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“As per provision of clause (3)(b) of Article 101 of the Constitution of India and Rule 213 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of States, I hereby resign my seat/membership in the Rajya Sabha with immediate effect,” Daimary wrote in his resignation letter addressed to Venkaiah Naidu, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
On November 22, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary and MLA Emmanuel Mosahary were inducted into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a formal ceremony held at the residence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
Terming this development as a “good news” for the Bharatiya Janata Party, CM Sonowal said that it has become “certain” that the party will form the Government in the BTC region. “I hope the joinings will make our party far more robust — not only in the BTC, but all over Assam,” Sonowal said.
