Proving true the age old adage that "desperate times call for desperate measures", it has come to light ambulances are now being used to sell mutton meat in Assam.
At a time when the Government of India, in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19 has placed severe restrictions on the business community, a bunch of unscrupulous dealers have started selling meat in an ambulance of the Oil India Ltd in Duliajan.

On Sunday, these ambulances that are used to carry patients are now being used to carry mutton, in an illegal racket amid the lockdown that has made certain commodities scarce.
Hue and cry erupted near the Oil India Hospital in Duliajan after it was discovered that the miscreants, taking advantage of the lockdown, were selling mutton in various locations across Duliajan town.
Acting on specific intelligence, Assam Police personnel nabbed the illegal dealers who were dealing their wares behind the Oil India Limited nursing hostel. One person, identified as Arjun Chettri, was arrested from the spot. According to reports, he had been using the ambulance to procure goats from neighboring districts to sell in the black market. An Oil India ambulance, AS-06-BC-0067, was reportedly used to sell the mutton to the locals.
