Assam: Over 36% of COVID-19 cases are from Kamrup Metro

Assam reported 2112 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the state’s total to 38,407. A total of 41,028 tests were conducted. Of 38,407 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, 9230 are still active and 29,080 have recovered so far. Meanwhile, the death toll has reached 94 with two more COVID-19 related deaths in the state.

Among the 38,407 cases, 14,060 are from Kamrup (metro). This accounts for 36.6% cases in Assam. The discharged cases in Kamrup (M) is 8,989 and 5,031 active cases along with 40 deaths.

The state crossed 20,000-mark in COVID-19 cases on July 16^th, 2020 while crossed the 1000-mark in 60 days. It reported the first case on March 31st, 2020.

Assam and Northeast

India COVID-19 cases so far

India COVID-19 tally crossed 16 lakh mark with the highest single-day spike of 55,079 positive cases and 779 deaths in the last 24 hours.

India has recorded 16,38,870 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 35,747 deaths. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 64.5 percent. Globally, there have been over 1.72 crore confirmed cases of COVID-19. More than 6.69 lakh people have died so far.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 13 thousand deaths. It has recorded 1,48,454 active corona cases, 248615 cured and 14729 deaths. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has 10743 active corona cases, 119724 cured and 3936 deaths. Tamil Nadu has 57962 active cases, 3838 deaths. Gujarat with 13793 active COVID-19 cases, 44074 cured and 2418 deaths.
