Assam : Police arrests cousin in Uzan Bazar murder case

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Police on Thursday arrested an 18-year-old boy in connection to the horrific murder of teenage girl Uzan Bazar on August 1. The accused named Ashikesk Gupta, is the cousin of the 13-year-old girl, has admitted killing his cousin.

The accused revealed that he hid the girl’s mobile and sim card after the murder which were missing from the crime scene.

He also revealed that a major altercation between the two led to the tragic murder.

Informing about this, the Guwahati police wrote, “In a major breakthough, in the dastardly Uzanbazar murder of a minor yesterday, CGPD arrested accused Ashikesk Gupta@Asik Accused admitted killing the girl, his cousin. Police also recovered her mobile & SIM card, which he hid after the murder. Accused led Police to recover them.”

A 13-year-old girl has been brutally murdered at her residence in Guwahati’s Uzan Bazar region.

It has been suspected that during the absence of the parents unidentified miscreant/miscreants might have entered the house and bludgeoned the teen to death with a pressure cooker and a pestle.
