The people in Dibrugarh district of Assam have moved onto the streets and blocked the National Highway 37 as a mark of protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The protestors have burnt tyres on the street and staged a massive protest.
The situation turned violent as the security forces deployed in the region tried to drive away from the protesters from the national highway, at which, the protesters retaliated by pelting stones.

During this, a journalist from DY365, a regional media was also injured.
District administration along with police and security forces on trying to push away the crowd of protesters from Chaolkhowa towards Bokul.
It is to be mentioned here that the contentious bill is scheduled to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha today at 2 pm.
People from across the state of Assam and other Northeastern states, including students and women of all age groups, have moved outside their houses against the Bill.
The contentious bill has led to a massive uprising in the state, which can also be seen all across the Northeastern region. Meanwhile, many students of Assam have even boycotted their examinations to protest against the Bill.
