Guwahati, December 23, 2018:

The 2nd edition of the Security Forces Badminton Tournament concluded on Saturday. The meet was organized by the 129th CRPF Battalion and was held at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) Indoor stadium.  In the final match, K. Shiva Prasad of 129 Battalion CRPF emerged champion defeating his compatriot Raj Kumar in straight sets.  The doubles final was won by Tanveer Jamal, Deputy Commandant and M. Balaji of 129 Battalion CRPF, also in straight sets.

Sports Minister Daneshwsar Goyari attended the final match function as Chief Guest and handed over the trophies. Altogether, 10 teams had participated in the event. Addressing the media, E. Ramesh, c/o CRPF 129 Battalion said: “The way we have conducted this tournament, in the future it will only get better. We will look to make it better and players from all forces will participate. It will be exciting. Age is no bar here. Both constables as well as officers are participating here. As you have seen, both officers and constables are getting equal opportunities. The singles final was contested between two constables. It motivates them and is a great way to boost the morale.”
