Assam sensitizes regarding 'fake tweet'; directs police to initiate action

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday clarified that the tweet in his name regarding Covid cases and school closure is fake.

The fake tweet stated that the state government decided to shut educational institutions in the state as the COVID-19 cases are increasing.

Clarifying the same, CM Sarma directed the state police to initiate action against those involved in spreading a fake tweet, with his name, that has been doing the rounds across social media platforms.

Informing this he tweeted,"A FAKE tweet bearing my name is circulating saying that since cases of #COVID19 have gone up schools & colleges are being closed down from Nov 20. This is WRONG & should not be heeded to.”
