DIBRUGARH: The District Health Society in collaboration with RMRC/ ICMR & Oil India Ltd, Duliajan on Monday launched a study on the Seroprevalence of Covid-19 virus infection in Dibrugarh district. The survey was conducted in a function held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner in Dibrugarh.
The occasion was attended by Pallav Gopal Jha, Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh, ADC Dipu Kr Deka ADC Rajib Thapa, AMC Principal Dr Sanjeeb Kakati, Joint Director, Health Dr Krishna Kemprai, Dr Anup Kr Das, Pro Dr Naba Jyoti Gogoi, DSO, Dr Biswajit Borkotoky, Scientist-E, ICMR and other health officers.
"We have targeted to complete the study and prepare an analysis by 1st week of January, 2021 to know the status of Covid19 spread in the district so that we can plan for the next level. Blood samples will be collected from people from 60 clusters out of which 30 are in urban areas while 30 are in rural areas of the district. Total 1200 samples will be collected with 20 from each clusters." - said Pallav Gopal Jha, DC, Dibrugarh.
"Serological survey is an routine exercise in any epidemic or pandemic. Since, we are preparing for the vaccination, serological survey is very important for pre- vaccination and post- vaccination study. We appeal people to extend their co-operation in this regard" - said Dr Naba Jyoti Gogoi, DSO, Dibrugarh.
"It will be a scientifically designed sample survey where we can expect a clear picture. We have designed the survey by collecting 1200 samples out of 15 lacs population of the district. We will be able to know the number of people already infected by the Covid19 virus." - said Dr Biswajit Borkotoky, Scientist, ICMR.
The survey will be conducted by ICMR-RMRC in collaboration with Health department and NHM, Dibrugarh and will be funded by funded by Oil India Limited, Duliajan. It will be monitored by Dibrugarh District administration.
