Guwahati, July 24, 2019:

After staging of mass agitations by the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified teachers of Assam, the State Education Department has issued a notification stating that the TET qualified teachers will not have to reappear in TET examinations.

The notification has been issued by Manindar Singh, the Additional Chief Secretary of Assam Education Department. Singh said that the TET qualified teachers can continue their jobs without appearing in another TET examination.

The Additional Chief Secretary mentioned that the 11,447 teachers appointed under that State-Pool and 30,087 'Sarbasiksha Abhiyaan' teachers can continue without reappearing for the TET examination.

However, the TET qualified teachers are not fully satisfied over the decision and have been demanding regularization of their job.

They have demanded that the 41,000 TET teachers’ jobs must be regularised and that was our demand, not the extension of the validity of their certificates.

Meanwhile, some teachers have alleged that these are gimmicks of the Education Department meant to silence the teachers.

It is to be mentioned that the TET teachers have been demanding the regularization of their jobs and the teachers have collectively condemned the Assam Government and Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharjee for not addressing their issue.
