On July 30, an operation was launched against the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) insurgent group by the police of Manja Police Station in Karbi Anglong district of Assam and 12 Garhwal unit of Army in connection with a case of extortion.
According to police, two linkmen were trying to collect extortion money and they were apprehended when they went to collect the same. The DNLA linkmen have been identified as: Suresh Khetresa, 27, a resident of Borjan, and Pusonlal Hanse, 40, a resident of Longnit village.
It is to be mentioned that the DNLA is a newly floated insurgent group that came into existence earlier this year.
The group is committed to revamp the national struggle and fight for the liberation of a sovereign, Independent Dimasa Nation.
The organisation has also established a government-in-exile called Dimasa Peoples’ Supreme Council.
