ASSAM: ULFA(I) RELEASES HOSTAGE DINANATH UPADHAYAYulfa(I)

Dinanath Upadhayay alias Gopal Upadhayay, clerk at the tea garden owned by Radha Chetia under Jagoon Police Station who was abducted by ULFA(I) was freed by the cadre at Lungri basti of Chanlang District under Nampong Police Station at around 8PM on 25th June. It is reported that the hostage was confined for 18 days in the camps of ULFA(I) in Myanmar. The captive was handed over to the Assam Police by the Arunachal Police.

However ambiguity swirls around the reason of release, whether it was the ransom or the effects of anthropolatry
