The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has called for a nationwide trader’s bandh on Monday to express solidarity with the families of CRPF jawans martyred in Pulwama terror attack.
Traders will also take out a tribute march in all the states. CAIT National Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said the body is planning to organise substantial financial assistance which will be directly given by traders to the families of martyrs.
The city markets all over states have been shut down for the day and staged a demonstration against the terrorist attack where 42 jawans of the CRPF were martyred. It also demanded quick action by the government against the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, an Army major with three soldiers was killed overnight during an encounter in Pulwama on Monday.
The people of Assam have also observed the bandh as the markets and all other trade units have been shut down. The bandh effect was seen in the busy commercial city centre, Basistha, Beltola, Ganeshguri. Fancy Bazar, Adabari, Maligaon, Jalukbari, etc. were shut on Monday.
The traders’ organisation has appealed to all the states and cities to extend support to make it a successful “Bharat Trade Bandh”.
