BJP Gets Election Funds from Wood Syndicate in Assam: Youth Congress

Guwahati, October 9, 2019:

Alleging that a 'wood syndicate' is being run in parts of Upper Assam with the support of the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP Government in the State, the Assam demanded a CBI inquiry into the same.

Assam Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) President Kamrul Islam Choudhury further alleged that the DFOs of Digboi, Doomdooma, and Dibrugarh are also involved in the syndicate. The NSUI leader further alleged that the BJP's funds to contest elections comes from the wood syndicate in the State.

Last night, the Congress had informed the local authorities of two trucks which were eventually nabbed after receiving input from the Youth Congress, Choudhury informed. He further queried what the DFOs have been doing

The youth Congress leader also alleged that the trees are felled in Assam and split in Arunachal, and the wood is subsequently brought back.

"This proves that this Government does not have any regard for the jati, mati, bheti of Assam", he further alleged, adding that the Assam Government does not arrest the culprits on purpose, as the wealth accrued from thus syndicate reaches Dispur. He also alleged that the wood syndicate is connected to the coal syndicate in the State, and further alleged that the Forest Minister is also involved in the practice.

The Youth Congress leader also dared the Assam's BJP Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to bring the culprits of this syndicate to justice.
