GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has registered a thumping victory in all the four constituencies of Assam capital Guwahati.
Assam minister and senior BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma won from the Jalukbari constituency for the fifth consecutive term with a margin of 1,01,911 votes.
While Sarma polled 1,30,762 votes, his nearest rival Romen Chandra Borthakur got 28,851 votes.
On the other hand, veteran politician and BJP leader Atul Bora retained the prestigious Dispur assembly constituency by a record margin of 1,21,091 votes.
While Bora polled 1,95,218 votes, his nearest rival Manjit Mahanta of Congress got 74,127 votes.
In Gauhati West, Ramendra Narayan Kalita of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) won by a margin of 77,795 votes.

Kalita got a total of 1,36,483 votes, while Congress’s Mira Borthakur Goswami tallied 58,688 votes.
In Gauhati East, state minister and former BJP state president Siddhartha Bhattacharya got the better of Congress’s Ashima Bordoloi by a margin of 83,414 votes.
While Bhattacharya polled 1,12,486 votes, Bordoloi got only 29,072 votes.
