The further appealed that traffic also should be managed in Kokrajhar as the rising number of vehicles has led to an increase in traffic snarls in the district, which is increasingly shaping into a hub of trade and commerce in the region.
The BSU's memorandum is also urged the local administration to provide protection to students and girls residing in hostels, as the security of women is one of the more pressing issues in India, especially in this day-and-age.
The Kokrajhar DC has given assurance that necessary steps will be taken to ensure that the student body's requests are met.
Last year too, with the festive season knocking at the door, as many as seven different Bodo organizations urged the Kokrajhar district administration not to allow gambling, sellong of drugs and alcohol during the celebration of Durga Puja in Kokrajhar.
It may be mentioned here that the illegal practice of gambling is becoming quite commonplace in Kokrajhar.
