Breaking | Assam Congress President Ripun Bora Submits Resignation to Rahul GandhiRipun

Guwahati, May 26, 2019:

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Ripun Bora has submitted his resignation letter to party head Rahul Gandhi on Sunday.

Bora's letter reads: "Whatever may be the reasons for this humiliating defeat in Assam, my conscience doesn't allow me to continue as president of Assam PCC."

The Congress party was handily defeated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the saffron unit was able to win nine seats in Assam against the Congress' three. The AIUDF was able to win a lone seat in Dhubri, while independent candidate Naba Kumar Sarania won the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha Seat.

It may be mentioned that party President Rahul Gandhi himself offered to resign from his post at the party's CWC meeting held on Saturday, but his offer was turned down by the party members.
