GUWAHATI: In the context of 50th years of Bangladesh liberation war 1971, India’s victory over Pakistan and unforgettable contribution of BSF in the victory, the Swarn Jayanti Shaurya Pradarshani Yatra having mobile photo/video gallery on six vehicles was flagged off from BSF South Bengal Frontier Headquarter Kolkata by Y B Khurania, IPS, ADG (EC) and Mr. Toufique Hasan Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner at Kolkata.
The Yatra was started on 3 December 2021 from Kolkata BSF HQ covering 1,200- km up to Guwahati to commemorate Golden Jubilee of the “Bangladesh Liberation War”.
The main motto of this Yatra is to inculcate spirit of patriotism in youths and also to spread awareness about the contribution of BSF & Mukti Bahini in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
The Yatra has reached Dhubri after paving its way through bordering districts of Kolkata, Nadia, Murshidabad, Malda, South Dinajpur, Kishanganj, Siliguri, Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar all along the Indo-BD international border.
On 19 December 2021, Swarnjayanti Shaurya Pradarshani Yatra reached Gauripur Parade ground in Dhubri. The programme was inaugurated by Lightening of Lamp by Smt Aloka Das, wife of late Kanhi Ram Das of who had participated in Indo-Pak war of 1971.
During the programme Documentaries, Videos, Photographs of Bangladesh Liberation War 1971 highlighting role of BSF and Mukti Bahini in Bangladesh liberation were screened. BSF Weapons were also exhibited during the programme. Moreover, BSF Band Show also performed patriotic songs which echoing in the Parade Ground with full of patriotic fervour and mesmerized the spectators.
The program was witnessed by Representative of District Administration Dhubri, President and members of Sriamant Chetna Manch Dhubri, BSF Officials and large number of civil population of Dhubri district. They all warmly welcomed the Yatra. People said that this is a very good stride for the cordial relations between the two
countries.
It is pertinent to mention that the Yatra will reach Guwahati on 20 October and the Yatra will start March from Frontier Head Quarter BSF Guwahati to Lachit Memorial park, Machkhowa, Guwahati via Azara, Jalukbari, Adabari, Maligaon and Bharlumukh route.
The Closing programme of the Yatra will be organized at Lachit Memorial park, Machkhowa, Guwahati from 4 pm. During the programme Documentaries, Videos Photographs of Bangladesh Liberation War 1971 highlighting BSF and Mukti Bahini role in Bangladesh liberation War will be screened. Moreover, colourful programme will also be performed by BSF Brass & Jazz Band.
