KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro today expressed his unhappiness over reports that some former members of the now-disbanded National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) that came overground following the signing of the historic BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) Accord have returned to the jungles.

"There is no need to think anti-social activities anymore in the region as police administrative have to voice strong voice against the anti-social elements", Boro said on the sidelines of a three-day mega cultural event today at Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar, adding that the state government should tackle the "gun culture" in the region head-on.

Asked about his United People's Party Liberal's (UPPL) prospects in the election, Boro said that the UPPL party is fully prepared to contest the upcoming Assam elections.

"The UPPL party is participating in the assembly elections alliance with BJP due to the alliance in the Council," he confirmed, when asked about an alliance.

He said that the UPPL party is contesting in 12 seats of the BTC districts with its "own strategies" and the party has so far prepared the "necessary preparation within the organization."

Boro further stated that the UPPL-BJP-GSP combine will work dedicatedly for the welfare and development of the citizens since its inception in the council region.

Coming down heavily on the BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary's allegation that military rule is prevailing in BTC, Boro said citizens are instead getting "good governance and healthy integration" in the region.

"The BPF ruled BTC administration saw massive corruption and anomalies in their 17 years ruled in BTC administration, but today Mohilary is claiming that military-like reign is going on in the region. This is absolute hypocrisy," Boro charged.
