Amid the ongoing mass protests against the Citizenship Bill in Guwahati, a heart-wrenching video has surfaced on social media, which is spreading like wildfire on social, drawing strong reactions from netizens.

In the video that was captured by a team of Inside Northeast on the ground, a woman protester can be seen being dragged by a lady cop, despite her screams and cries. The woman's child, who was with her at the protest, can be seen pleading with the cop not to harm her mother.

Later, Guwahati Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar arrives on the scene and urges the female cop to go a bit easy on the protesters.
The video of this incident has gone viral on social, and has been viewed over 2 lakh times on Facebook. "It is really heart breaking to see such incident do we still have any child welfare Department in our country", wrote one user, while another user accused, "Are the police people from northeast India or from Bangladesh?"

It may be mentioned here that the law-and-order situation in Assam has spiralled out of control amid the ongoing protests and riots against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Despite the imposition of an indefinite curfew in the State, thousands upon thousands have spilled onto the streets to protest against the Bill.
Guwahati, which has become the epicentre of the uprisings, has been crippled by road blockades at every turn. Furthermore, business establishments have also been closed down due to the volatility of the situation.
