The regular passengers travelling in the ferries from Guwahati to North-Guwahati carried out a protest rally on Friday against the Inland Water Transport (IWT) department demanding technical advancement of the ferries.
The protestors marched towards the Director’s office to meet him but were stopped by the police midway
Speaking to InsideNe, Tanmoy Nath, in-charge of Fancy Bazar Police Outpost said that the protestors did not have the permission to carry out any rally so the ACP had a discussion with them and cleared down the path.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Panbazar Division, Suprotiv Lal Baruah said that the protestors met the Joint Director of IWT as the director was not available and will soon submit a memorandum demanding the same.
