The Leader of Opposition, Assam Legislative Assembly, Debabrata Saikia has demanded Chief Ministerial inquiry into the Assam Irrigation department exam paper leakage issue and to withdraw the ongoing exams.
The Irrigation department had conducted the examination for 397 posts of Section Assistant on February 1 across the state. The exams were conducted smoothly, however, the question paper was reportedly leaked through mobile phones in one or two centres.

The question papers of the department exams, along with the OMR sheet, was shared on Facebook and WhatsApp. Debabrata Saikia has demanded the inquiry to look into the matter and also alleged that the Aptech company, which was given the responsibility of conducting the examination in a smooth manner, has a record of cases against it.
“The responsibility to conduct the Irrigation department’s exams smoothly was given to Aptech, which is a private company. Till now it had conducted more than six exams for government posts…There was a precondition that the candidates could not take the OMR sheet or answer scripts outside the exam hall. Mobile phones were also not allowed. However, the OMR sheet, answer scripts have been shared on social media. In 2018, Uttar Pradesh government had lodged a complaint against Aptech for its inability to conduct the UP Power Corporation’s exams properly,” said Debabrata Saikia.
