Congress President Rahul Gandhi, while taking digs at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, made campaign promises to the people of Assam and promised to look after the interests of the tea garden workers, the farmers and the youth.
As proof of the Congress’ dedication to fulfilling promises made during the election cycle, Rahul cited the example of the farm loan waivers. “We had promised to waive farmers’ loans which we did within days in the three states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan after assuming power. My words are true, they aren’t the hollow promises of Modi”, he said.
Rahul Gandhi slammed the current administration and said that the BJP Government has failed to fulfil the promises made during the campaign. “Modi had promised a lot, but has he done anything? Has he done anything for the farmers, the tea garden workers or the youth of Assam? We will send money directly to the accounts of the tea garden workers in the state”, he promised.
