GUWAHATI: Dry days have been declared in Kamrup metro for 48 hours with effect from Sunday in view of the ensuing third and final phase of assembly elections of the Assam assembly elections.

The Kamrup (metro) district administration has announced dry days from 6 pm on April 4 to 6 pm on April 6.

During this time, all liquor stores, bars, clubs, restaurants, warehouses, and bonds will be closed.

Jalukbari, Dispur, Gauhati East, and Gauhati West, the four urban constituencies of the Kamrup metro election district, will go to the polls on April 6.

Dry days will also be in effect on the day of the vote counting, which is scheduled for May 2, before the procedure is completed, including the day of any re-poll, the order added.

Any violation of the above order will lead to legal repercussions.

Voting for the third phase polls will be held on April 6 for total of 40 seats.

The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
