Elephants invasion at night has continued to haunt the people of Assam as on Saturday night a herd of Elephant destroyed multiple houses in Numaligarh.
Locals speaking on the issue stated that a herd containing about 20 to 25 elephants have been regularly coming down to their village from the nearby forest in search of food. Not only they destroy the paddy fields, the elephants also destroy other property and at times they would even attack the villagers.
The locals added that on Saturday night the elephants as usual came down to their village and destroyed their houses but luckily no one was injured during this invasion. The elephants also destroyed the crop storage of many houses in the village.
Although the forest department was informed no proper actions were taken.
It may be mentioned that almost everyday, man-elephant conflicts are reported from Numaligarh but no proper steps have taken by the forest department yet.
