Five students of Samaguri College were injured in a clash between the members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) at Muwamari area of Samaguri in central Assam’s Nagaon district on Friday.
The incident occurred when some NSUI members, contesting the students’ body election in Samaguri College, had taken out a procession.
Speaking to InsideNe, NSUI state secretary, Iftikar Hussain, alleged that the NSUI members were attacked with stones and also beaten up by a group of ABVP supporters.
“Five NSUI supporters were injured in the attack. The injured students were first taken to a local hospital and later shifted to the Nagaon Civil Hospital,” Hussain said.
He also said that all the 12 NSUI candidates had won the election. Six of them won unopposed while the remaining six others won by a large number of votes, he added.
