Foreign Liquor Worth Rs 5 Lakh Seized in Hailakandi

Hailakandi, September 8, 2019:

A huge quantity of foreign liquor was seized at Katlicherra in Hailakandi district, on Saturday.

Katlicherra Police seized 60 cartons of foreign liquor amounting to nearly Rs 5 lakh from a truck bearing registration No.MZ-01G 6931 which was on its way from Silchar to Mizoram.

Acting on a tiff off, police intercepted the truck carrying fodder and searched it thoroughly and found cartons of foreign liquor concealed inside fodder bags.

Police apprehended the driver and the helper of the truck and detained the vehicle.

A case under Section 201/34 of the IPC and 53(1) of the Assam Excise Act has been registered against them.

An investigation is on.
